The long wait for the new Toyota HyRyder is over, as the automaker has finally announced the compact SUV in India. The 2022 Urban Cruiser HyRyder features the first-ever All-Wheel Drive (AWD).
Toyota and Maruti Suzuki collaborated on the new HyRyder at the former's Bidadi, Karnataka plant. The new Toyota SUV will compete with vehicles such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, and MG Astor.

2022 Toyota HyRyder Features
The new Toyota HyRyder has a larger appearance than the Creta and a more modern design language. It has a muscular design bumper, a crystal acrylic front grille, and a trapezoidal lower grille. The LED DRLs are connected by a thin chrome strip. The bumper-mounted headlights are integrated with projector LED lights.
The rear end features slim C-shaped taillights that run the length of the tailgate and are connected by a chrome strip. The new HyRyder will ride on 17-inch alloy wheels with thin black body cladding.

The Toyota HyRyder's interior features a dual-tone finish on the dashboard and seats, similar to the new Jeep Meridian. It has a head-up display, powered front seats, ambient lighting, and a 360-degree parking camera. It features a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, and ventilated front seats. It has remote ignition on/off and air conditioning controls. It supports Toyota iConnect for smart features in terms of connectivity.
Six airbags, an advanced body structure, vehicle stability control, ABS with EBD, all-wheel disc brakes, hill hold, and hill descend features are among the safety features.

HyRyder is now the first midsize SUV to offer powerful hybrid technology. It has a 1.5L Atkinson TNGA engine with a self-charging hybrid system that produces 92bhp and 122Nm torque. The electric motor can produce 79hp and 141Nm of torque, while the hybrid combination can produce 115bhp.
It has a 177.6V lithium battery set for electric performance, which is claimed to go up to 25km in electric-only mode. The HyRyder's fuel engine efficiency is 24-25kmpl.
2022 Toyota HyRyder Price and Availability
Toyota has not announced the price of the new 2022 Urban Cruiser HyRyder in the country, which will be available next month. While bookings for the new SUV have begun at a token amount of Rs 25,000. It will be available in seven single-color shades and four dual-tone options.
