The BMW i4 Luxury EV

The BMW i4 has finally arrived in India. With this, the premium automaker now offers a huge new battery-powered electric sedan with some of the most remarkable performance figures in India. At a glance, features include a range of approximately 600 kilometers on a single charge and acceleration of 0 to 100 kmph in 6 seconds. Of all, performance isn't the only thing the BMW i4 excels at. True to the brand's name, it is packed with premium features on the inside and out.

Before we get to that, here's a quick rundown of BMW's new EV. The BMW i4 arrived seven years after the i3 as BMW's latest enhanced electric sedan experience. It had its global debut in June of last year, but the EV's first appearance can be traced back to March 2020, when BMW originally presented it at the Geneva Motor Show. Since then, there has been a lot of buzz about it, and variant trims have already sold successfully in a number of overseas markets.

BMW i4: Design and features

The CBU path may have increased the cost of the i4, but the EV manages to justify it with a plethora of features. Starting with the design, the BMW i4 features the vertical kidney grilles that have served as BMW's marquee for the previous few years. However, unlike ICE vehicles, these do not chill the air around the automobile and instead house different sensors for real-time data collection. From the flanks, the i4 retains the long and aerodynamic design of a classic BMW vehicle. The back has a distinct appearance, with a modest curvature towards the insides terminating the vertical stretch at the sides.

Inside, the BMW i4 has a strong performance-oriented appearance that is enhanced by a slew of luxury equipment. It has synthetic leather upholstery and claims to provide enough room for five persons to sit comfortably. The front is adorned with the BMW curved display, which consists of a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch control display in a single-extended configuration. Other features include LED ambient lighting, three-zone automatic climate control, a sunroof, and a 17-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system. The luggage compartment has a capacity of 470 liters.

BMW i4: Performance

The new BMW electric car is powered by a 250kW (340hp) motor with 430Nm of torque and a top speed of 190km, which is electronically regulated. As previously stated, the i4 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. The motor is powered by an 83.9kWh lithium-ion battery that provides a WLTP range of 590 kilometers on a single charge.

BMW i4 offers to charge rates of up to 205kW for this charge. BMW claims that the i4 can be charged in 10 minutes and run for 164 kilometers. An 11kW charging rate from a standard wall charger will charge the battery from 0% to 100% in 8.5 hours. Regenerative braking can give additional on-the-go charging at rates of up to 116kW in the eDrive40.
