New Electric Cars in India: Electric Cars Price in India

Many electric cars launched in India this year demonstrate a clear trend: all automotive manufacturers are moving toward electrification. This means that we will see an increase in the number of battery-powered four-wheelers across all price ranges. For the time being, the electric vehicles on the market are limited and mostly expensive in comparison to their gasoline or diesel counterparts. In exchange, they promise a cleaner commute, lower operating costs, and first-mover advantages to buyers in the form of incentives.

With the benefits clearly visible, electric car sales in India are steadily increasing. Tata Motors and Mahindra Electric are among the early adopters of EVs in India. Tata already offers a number of passenger EVs, whereas Mahindra focuses on the commercial market. We will concentrate on the most recent electric cars in India, their construction and capabilities, as well as their price. So, without further ado, let us begin.

1. Porsche Taycan

The Porsche Taycan was an early response from an established automaker to Tesla's top-end offerings, and it was a game-changer for the electric car market. Porsche demonstrated what a luxury car can be like when its IC engine is replaced with an electric drivetrain with the Taycan. The Taycan is loaded with luxury features, but it also performs admirably.

The Taycan Turbo S has 761hp and 1,050Nm of peak torque, making it the most powerful EV on the market in India. The Taycan's lower variants come standard with a 79.2kWh battery, while the larger 93.4kWh battery pack is optional. The higher-spec Turbo and Turbo S models are only available with the 93.4kWh unit.

2. Tata Nexon EV Max

The Nexon EV Max is Tata Motors' latest EV and the big brother of the Nexon EV. The distinction is that "Max" accounts for a larger battery and thus a longer range. The battery also adds about 100kg to the car's weight when compared to the Nexon EV, lowering its ground clearance slightly. Aside from that, there are no physical differences between the Nexon EV and the Nexon EV Max. The Nexon EV Max, on the other hand, has received a performance boost, with the all-electric SUV now capable of going from 0 to 100 kmph in under 9 seconds.

The luxury crossover is also loaded with performance, promising some of the best EV numbers available. All of this comes with a hefty price tag.

The Kia EV6 is available in two variants in India, both of which are based on Hyundai's E-GMP platform. The base model is rear-wheel-drive with a single motor, whereas the step-up model is all-wheel-drive with dual motors.
