BYD Atto 3 Electric SUV Launched. Price point at Rs 34 Lakh in India: Features, and More

The BYD Atto 3 is the most recent electric vehicle to join India's fleet of battery-powered vehicles. The all-electric SUV is priced at Rs 33.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and is the second EV offering from Chinese automaker Build Your Dreams (BYD) after the e6 MPV, which was unveiled in the country in August this year.

The BYD Atto 3 has a range of 521km (ARAI-approved) on a single charge, thanks to a 60.48kWh Blade battery pack that is significantly larger than those found on the Hyundai Kona and the MG ZS EV, both of which the EV intends to compete in the Indian market. To help with this, the electric SUV has regenerative braking and a fast charging capability, with an 80kW DC fast charger capable of charging up to 80% of the battery.

Here is a more in-depth look at the new BYD Atto 3.

BYD Atto 3 Design

The Atto 3 features a signature BYD design that is inspired by minimalism and just the right amount of curves to make it look like an appropriate SUV rather than an overly-bulky SUV. That is evident in the silver front grille, which features the bold BYD logo in the centre and ends with sleek and wing-shaped headlights and LED DRLs on both flanks. A dual-tone bumper and a faux silver skid plate are also present at the front.

The Atto 3 has a typical SUV appearance from the side, with silver highlights on the C-pillar, a floating roofline, blacked-out wheel arches, and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The Atto 3 has full-length LED taillights, a spoiler, and a dual-tone bumper at the back.

BYD Atto 3 Notable Features

A panoramic sunroof with electric slide and anti-pinch, electric unlock tailgate, one-touch open/close tailgate, roof rails, and electrically heated, adjustable, and retractable exterior mirrors are among the notable features of the all-electric SUV.

A 12.8-inch rotating central screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a 5.0-inch digital instrument cluster, synthetic leather seats, a wireless phone charger, powered front driver and passenger seats, door-mounted circular speakers, and multi-colored ambient lighting are included on the inside. ADAS technology, a 360-degree camera, ABS, ESC, traction control, hill descent control, seven airbags, and ISOFIX child restraint anchorage points are among the safety features on the Atto 3.

BYD Atto 3: Performance

The Atto 3 is propelled by a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) capable of producing 201hp and 310Nm of torque. According to the company, the electric SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.3 seconds. As previously stated, the BYD electric SUV can travel 521 kilometers on a single charge thanks to its 60.48kWh Blade battery pack.

This battery charges from 0% to 80% in 50 minutes using an 80kW DC fast charger and approximately 10 hours using a Type 2 (7kW) AC charger. BYD is also providing Atto 3 buyers with a 7kW home charger and a 3kW portable charging box. Surprisingly, the Atto 3 has a 3.3kW Vehicle to Load function that allows it to charge external electrical appliances via its battery.

According to BYD, the first batch of Atto 3 deliveries will begin in January of next year. It remains to be seen how the EV compares to its competitors in India's electric SUV segment.
